With the redesign of hAppenings.community, we've undergone a significant update to provide you with a cleaner, more intuitive experience. Our new website boasts a sleek look and a streamlined interface, making it easier than ever to navigate and discover the wealth of information available.
It's not merely about appearances; our newly improved functionality augments the core foundation of our project, our database, to new levels of capability.
Whether you're; a Curious newcomer looking to explore the potential of Holochain, an Advocate wanting to get involved with a developing project, or a seasoned Creator of Holochain apps - hAppenings.community is your resource!
We have purposefully designed the updated website to share more information from the database with the community. To achieve that it now includes:
Search: We have added search bars to each of our database views, enabling you to effortlessly discover the data you're interested in with just a few clicks.
Resources: We have curated a series of resources for the Curious, Advocates and Creators which are intended to offer each group relevant videos, articles, forums and Discord servers as well as links to developer training tools.
Newsletters: All of our past What’s hAppening? newsletter articles are now searchable.
Database Views: All of the ‘views’ of our database are now available from our header drop-down so they can be accessed more easily.
For those of you who want to jump straight into the database of applications you can find the searchable records HERE.

2. And… Holochain has announced a $16,000 USDC bounty for #ETHDENVER 2024!
In a bold move to foster collaborative innovation, Holochain has announced their ‘Holochain Grant Platform’ Bounty for ETHDenver which starts today, 23rd February in Colorado. This exciting initiative aims to incentivize and support the development of a distributed grant platform using Holochain for the application and Rain Language for the smart contracts.
At the heart of this lies a commitment to nurturing collaboration rather than competition for the bounty. So, to support their aims, the judges, Mary Camacho and David Meister will look to partially allocate the bounty even if the top team’s project doesn't meet all the criteria outlined! With a prize pool ranging from $5,000 to $16,000 USDC up for grabs to teams attending ETHDenver, they have stated they are:
“dedicated to help the #buidl teams be as successful as possible” - Mary Camacho
They want the Holochain Grant Platform to serve as a decentralised hub for funding, submitting, and evaluating grant applications.
Within the hApp, ‘Funder’ role holders should have the ability to define and fund grant pools, while ‘Applicants’ should have the capability to submit, revise, and reuse grant applications seamlessly. ‘Community Evaluators’ are seen as playing a crucial role in providing valuable feedback within the application to users and also forming the basis for awarding the grants. Transparency is key for many decentralised applications and so with this one, the judges have specified that the hApp should be open source and use Rain Language for automating the smart contracts.
Rainlang, a partner project of Holochain, is intended to allow smart contracts to be written using clear and straightforward syntax. By reducing complexity it makes it easier for developers, and those with less technical backgrounds, to write, understand and read the logic and code. It means we can all read the smart contracts we’re signing!
The Holochain Foundation is envisioning a grant platform that empowers entrepreneurs, developers, and communities. By completing this bounty, participants will not only contribute to the growth of the Holochain ecosystem but also pave the way for future decentralised projects to receive funding using the hApp that’s built!
Holochain’s Grant Platform Bounty represents a clever opportunity to drive innovation, develop collaboration, and build community engagement while deepening the capabilities of the ecosystem. Sweet!
